Job Summary We are seeking a skilled and innovative Revit API Developer to design, develop, and maintain custom tools, add-ins, and automation scripts. In this role, you will collaborate closely with BIM coordinators, engineers, and architects to translate real-world workflow challenges into scalable software solutions. Your work will directly improve modeling speed, accuracy, data extraction, and quality control across major project lifecycles. Core Responsibilities Plugin & Tool Development: Design, build, and maintain efficient, reusable, and reliable custom plugins and ribbons using C#, the .NET Framework, and the Revit API. BIM Workflow Automation: Identify repetitive modeling and documentation tasks (e.g., sheet generation, routing, device placement) and convert them into automated macros or tools. Data Integration: Build export/import routines to connect Revit with external databases, cloud infrastructure, dashboards, or data visualization software like Power BI. Cloud & Platform Scaling: Extend Revit capabilities to the cloud using Autodesk Platform Services (APS / Forge) to automate overnight file processing or web-based model viewing. Codebase Maintenance & QA: Debug, optimize, and maintain existing internal tools. Manage codebase integrity utilizing version control platforms like Git/GitHub. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Gather technical requirements from end-users (BIM specialists, designers) and provide documentation and technical support for deployed features. Required Skills & QualificationsEducation: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Architecture, Civil/MEP Engineering, or a related field.Programming Languages: Strong proficiency in C#, .NET, and Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) principles. API Development: 2–5+ years of hands-on experience explicitly working with the Revit API and developing functional plugins. BIM Expertise: A solid user-level understanding of Autodesk Revit software architecture, family structures, elements, and parameter hierarchies. UI/UX Frameworks: Experience developing intuitive graphical user interfaces for tools using WPF (Windows Presentation Foundation) or Windows Forms.Tools: Proficiency with Visual Studio and version control systems like Git. Preferred. Skills Experience with Python, Dynamo, or pyRevit. Familiarity with Autodesk Platform Services (APS / Forge API).Knowledge of complementary AEC APIs, such as Navisworks API, AutoCAD API, or Civil 3D API.Foundational understanding of relational databases (SQL, MongoDB) and RESTful web API consumption.
